About Me
Welcome!
My name is Meg and I am a lifelong learner and passionate advocate for individualized education. I bring both personal experience and professional expertise to the families I serve. As a child, I was homeschooled from kindergarten through high school, an experience that gave me a strong appreciation for the flexibility, creativity, and connection that home education makes possible.
I am the mother of four young adults, all of whom I homeschooled at some point during their schooling journey: all of them during the primary grades, and one of my daughters right through high school (with the help of amazing grandparents!). These personal experiences, combined with my professional training, deeply inform the way I support families today.
I am a certified special education teacher, and a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA). I hold master’s degrees in both Special Education, and Educational Psychology. I specialize in working with homeschool families with children who have special needs- equipping parents with evidence-based strategies, encouragement, and practical tools so their children can thrive.
My work is grounded in the belief that learning should be peaceful, joyful, and responsive to each child’s unique strengths and challenges. I’m here to help parents feel confident, capable, and never alone on their homeschooling journey.

Important Information About My Services
At Meg MacMillan Educational and Parenting Consulting, I provide educational consulting and support services to homeschooling families of learners with special needs. My role is to empower parents with evidence-based strategies, coaching, and resources to help their children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
While I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), my services are offered in an educational consulting capacity, not as a substitute for clinical or medically necessary treatment. I do not provide direct ABA therapy or bill insurance.
All information shared is confidential and handled in accordance with ethical and professional standards. My goal is to partner with families to promote success, confidence, and growth in the homeschooling journey.

My services do not include the following:
Medical Services
- Diagnosing disabilities (e.g., dyslexia, ADHD, autism — diagnosis must come from licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, neurologists, etc.)
- Medical or psychiatric treatment (e.g., prescribing medications, providing therapy for mental health disorders)
- Therapeutic services (e.g., occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech-language therapy — unless you are licensed in those fields)
Legal Services
- Legal advice regarding IEP disputes, homeschool laws, custody issues, etc.
Formal Evaluations
- Psychoeducational evaluations
- Eligibility determinations for special education services
Crisis Intervention
- Emergency mental health intervention (e.g., active suicidality, violent behavior, serious mental health crises)
- Severe trauma treatment (deep trauma therapy should be handled by licensed clinical social workers, psychologists, or trauma specialists)
Intensive Clinical Services
- One-on-one ABA therapy sessions
- Residential or inpatient program placement or management

Sliding scale payments available for families with financial need.

Homeschool Individual Education Plan (HIEP) Services
$299
- Online or phone initial intake meeting to get to know you and your child, and your child's needs (30 minutes)
- Data collection for academic and functional HIEP goals
- Development of HIEP document
- Online or phone HIEP meeting to go over plan and answer any questions (1 hour)
- Curriculum recommendations based on assessment results
Progress Monitoring Services
$99/report
- Data collection for HIEP goals
- Progress report development
- Online or phone meeting to discuss progress (30 minutes)
- Meeting notes provided with all recommendations listed for any changes in curriculum, accommodations, etc.
*Progress monitoring meetings are recommended for every quarter (i.e., 4x a school year), but can happen at whatever frequency works best for your family.
Behavior Support Plan Services
$199
- Online or phone initial intake meeting to pinpoint behavior(s) of concern (30 minutes)
- Data collection for Behavior Plan
- Development of Behavior Plan document
- Online or phone meeting to discuss Behavior Plan (1 hour)
- Meeting notes provided with all recommendations listed
