Jess Lair
My name is Meg and I am a lifelong learner and passionate advocate for individualized education. I bring both personal experience and professional expertise to the families I serve. As a child, I was homeschooled from kindergarten through high school, an experience that gave me a strong appreciation for the flexibility, creativity, and connection that home education makes possible.
I am the mother of four young adults, all of whom I homeschooled at some point during their schooling journey: all of them during the primary grades, and one of my daughters right through high school (with the help of amazing grandparents!). These personal experiences, combined with my professional training, deeply inform the way I support families today.
I am a certified special education teacher, and a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA). I hold master’s degrees in both Special Education, and Educational Psychology. I specialize in working with homeschool families with children who have special needs- equipping parents with evidence-based strategies, encouragement, and practical tools so their children can thrive.
My work is grounded in the belief that learning should be peaceful, joyful, and responsive to each child’s unique strengths and challenges. I’m here to help parents feel confident, capable, and never alone on their homeschooling journey.

At Meg MacMillan Educational and Parenting Consulting, I provide educational consulting and support services to homeschooling families of learners with special needs. My role is to empower parents with evidence-based strategies, coaching, and resources to help their children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
While I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), my services are offered in an educational consulting capacity, not as a substitute for clinical or medically necessary treatment. I do not provide direct ABA therapy or bill insurance.
All information shared is confidential and handled in accordance with ethical and professional standards. My goal is to partner with families to promote success, confidence, and growth in the homeschooling journey.
I believe all children deserve support - please reach out to discuss options.
*Progress monitoring meetings are recommended for every quarter (i.e., 4x a school year), but can happen at whatever frequency works best for your family.
Yes! Any conscientious homeschooling parent would appreciate the educational road map that an individualized education plan can provide for the school year for their child!
You sure can, with some research, planning, and determination. I have a DIY kit in my shop that can help you!
A Homeschool Individualized Education Plan (HIEP) is a flexible, parent-driven tool designed to support learners with special needs in the homeschooling environment. Unlike public school IEPs, which are legally binding under federal law and guarantee specific services, homeschool IEPs are typically optional and used to set individualized goals, plan academic and behavioral supports, and track student progress. While they do not carry the same legal obligations as school-issued IEPs, homeschool IEPs are a valuable way to organize instruction, document growth, and advocate for services when needed. I offer guidance in creating practical, personalized HIEs tailored to your child’s unique strengths and challenges.
No, I do not bill insurance. My services are educational and consultative in nature and are not classified as medical or therapeutic services. Payment is made directly by the client at the time of service.
If you have questions about services, would like to schedule a free introductory consult, or would like to sign up for full consultation services, feel free to send me a message. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
